Philosophic Lodge of Research Lodge No: 400
The Qabalah lecture returns

Solar Lodge #131 hosted Worshipful Master Chuck 2.0 Landau of  the Philosophic Lodge of Research to give a  presentation on Qabalah and the Lodge March 21st . A Kosher dinner was prepared from scratch, according to the strictist Kosher rules. It's ritual purity was matched by the taste, aroma and presentation of a masterpiece. Worshipful Master Brian S.has instituted a full year of educational programs on a variety of subjects, and has already invited PLR's Chaplain Ed Lawson to lecture on KIPLING and THE MOTHER LODGE later in the year.

While not identical, this lecture was similar to the January 3rd presentation on Jewish Mysticism and it's relationship to Freemasonry that received a nice review in The CONNECTICUT FREEMASON newspaper when first presented at Wyllys-St.John's # 4.The program began with prayer, and some comments on the Master's Hat and the Lodge Altar. The second section explained the meaning of Qabalah, it's history, and the development of it's various practices.The context in which the Jewish people developed from a tribal to urban to nomadic family group was explored. The final section applied these teachings to various Masonic rituals, words, legends and Lodge furniture.

Like Freemasonry, Qabalah cannot be learned just by reading, it must be experienced. During the course of the presentation, the Officers and audience were drawn in to supply answers to the questions raised both in the lecture and discussions.

PLR 2011 off to a great start

Brethren, 2011 is off to a spendid start. With the completion of the Instillation of Officers, WM Chuck 2.0 Landau, SW Jim Nankin, JW Don Tansey, SD Jonanthan Beatty, JD Charlie Curtis, Marshal Carl Ek, Chaplain Ed Lawson and Lodge Almoner Stephen Thal take their places and stations for the year.

Plans for 2011 include;

1). Speakers Beureau: 2 Guest presentations have already been well received and 3 more are planned so far this Spring.

2). Research presentations at Stated Communications: both Spring sessions have papers planned, and 2 more are being developed for the Fall.

3). Research Papers: all exisiting papers have been scanned,  digitized to PDF and backed up to several DVDs in diverse locations among the Officers. We continue to seek out papers lost over time. Discussions are planned for the proper way to disseminate these papers to our members and CT Master Masons in electronic format. Grand Lodge has some ideas as well on this important subject.

4). Sampler CD: A CD with 10 research papers from 1940 -2010 has been manufactured and is being distributed to all PLR members with their Dues Card.

5). Research Paper sales: approximately 40 new copies of 10 assorted research papers have been produced for sale at Grand Lodge session. This, plus the supply of previously unsold titles shoukld produce some new income for the Lodge, and help us hold down increasing the Dues from our amazingly low, low price of $15

6). Membership: 2 new applications have been received, and Traveling Speakers are also recruiters for PLR's mission and membership.

It is going to be an exciting year, please join us in making it a resounding success.
