| Grand Funneral Honors for a Founder |
|
Wyllys-St. Johns Lodge # 4 honored one of the Lodge's founders June 26th, with a visit to Cedar Street cemetary in New Haven. After a tour of the famous and honorable residents, including Pierpoint Edwards, they arrived at the Cental Avenue row where William Storer was intered. PLR members Worshipful Master Justin Duffy and PM John Forenza-Bailey utilized the new Grand Funneral Honors rite adapted from the official Grand Lodge funeral rite by PM Larry S. Baker as part of this years' Grand Lodge Archive research and work. The ritual contains many of the essential elements of our buriel rite, but adapted for a Brother long since past, with no family except Lodge Brothers present. It took about 15 minutes to perform, and if approved by the Grand Lodge Ritual Committee, will be made available with short biographies (or necrologies) for local, patriotic, Worshipful and Grand Masters in the area of any Lodge who wishes to perform similar Honors in their community.
